EGL 330 - Literature and Psychology Class Hours: 3, Units: 3 General Education: Area C2 Humanities - upper division Prerequisite(s): EGL 220 In this course students analyze how various psychological principles and theories may be applied to literary selections. Concepts to be covered include Jungian archetypes, especially the shadow; the Freudian Oedipus complex; and issues of human growth from childhood through adolescence and adulthood, including abuse; dysfunctional families; dreams and fantasies; the psychology of men and women, lust and love, death and dying. A research paper requires the student to apply psychological principles to a play or novel. CC
