GMA 225 - Southeast Asia: Maritime and Mainland Class Hours: 3, Units: 3 Prerequisite(s): None GMA 225 takes an in-depth area study of the region of Southeast Asia, including the historical-political development of Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, The Philippines, and Indonesia. Throughout history, Southeast Asia has most often been defined by the sea. This course focuses on environmental opportunities and constraints, natural resources and natural hazards, demographics, historical sea and land empires, contemporary ethnic conflicts, politics and war, urbanization, and global connections.
