An American history survey course with an emphasis on indigenous and African-American lived experiences and social struggles. Course contains topics including indigenous models of economy and society, initial encounters between native populations and Europeans, issues of settler colonialism and autonomy, models of enslavement and resistance, and anti-slavery activism including the abolitionist movement through emancipation and reconstruction.
